October 5, 2009

People present:   Amy G.,  Chris,   Ósk D., Andrea V., Peter H.  Laurie , Jeannie, [Please note: I could be way off in terms of this list as I forgot to note down who was present...note to self...]

1) Treasurer’s Report  (Andrea)

There are 12-13 books in stock. Currently monetary balance:  $280.00

2) We discussed whether group emails should have ABA in the subject line and decided that it should, as anyone seeing this over someone’s shoulder would not know necessarily what it meant.

3) We discussed whether to note the website address at the same point at which the newcomers are asked to introduce themselves and it was decided that we should. Laurie will speak to Darlene about changing this on the preamble and ask her to email people afterwards and announce it at a few meetings so people know to print off a new preamble.

4) We discussed at length whether to suggest to the GSA that “Check-in buddy” be changed to “First-step sponsor” and at the end decided to table this to the next meeting.

5) We discussed at length whether to add to the preamble something about not mentioning the names of  outside places like other fellowships and treatment centers and it was decided that this is an issue that can be addressed as people see fit one-on-one or through sharing.

6) Ended with the Serenity Prayer.

Agenda for November 2, 2009

A. Treasurer Report (Andrea)

B. Old Business

1 .    Reflections on the Preamble from Osk D.

2 .   Thought be given to creating a more comprehensive Newcomer Pak for folk who have no computer and cannot access ABA-related websites etc – e.g. including hard copy lists of meetings and phonelist.

3 .    Suggestion that Meal Support be put forward as a Ninth Tool in ABA’s list of Tools: this will require careful consideration     and  debate, so feedback welcomed.

4 .    Where has the sentence or two inserted over a year ago into the Preamble explaining the Traditions gone? (Sarah B. believes something concise here is still called for.)
